For our Holidays in Hand Class that I am taking we have to come up with each day in December to make something. I am going to try to make something for everyone in my Family this year. {Holidays In Hand Prompts}

My mom and I are taking an Online class called Holidays In Hand. Here was one of our assignments: All I need to do is fill in the blanks for each day and I am on schedule...

{Frosty Banners}

I think I will make these cute Snow-flakes for inside our house to hang from the dinner room table light.



Although these oversize snowflake streamers look delicate, they're made from a sturdy material that allows them to withstand wet weather. Cut free-form wintry shapes, or download our templates; cut out. We started with a 10- or 15-inch square of weatherproof paper; fold the square in half to form a rectangle. Continue folding as illustrated below, using template as a guide. Place template on top; outline with pencil. Cut away edges with scissors; remove interior pieces with a utility knife. To hang: Punch holes at top and bottom of flakes. Tie monofilament between flakes to join them. Hang from a thumbtack or a removable self-adhesive hook. For greater stability, tie bottom snowflake to porch.

{One-Pan Chicken and Potato Bake }

Dinner Tonight:

One-Pan Chicken and Potato Bake:

What You Need!
4 bone-in chicken pieces (1-1/2 lb.)
1-1/2 lb. potatoes (about 3), cut into thin wedges
1/4 cup KRAFT Zesty Italian Dressing
1/4 cup KRAFT Grated Parmesan Cheese
1 tsp. Italian seasoning

Make It!
HEAT oven to 400°F. Place chicken and potatoes in 13x9-inch baking dish.
TOP with dressing; sprinkle with cheese and seasoning. Cover.
BAKE 1 hour or until chicken is done (165ºF), removing foil after 30 min.

{Beef Stroganoff with Pasta}

Last night I made this Beef Stroganoff with Pasta. This is a simple and quick recipe to make. Here is the recipe below:

Makes: 4 servings
Start to Finish: 30 minutes

Beef Stroganoff with Pasta:

Ingredients

* 3 cups dried wide noodles
* 3 cups broccoli spears (12 ounces)
* 1/2 cup light dairy sour cream
* 1-1/2 teaspoons prepared horseradish
* 1/2 teaspoon snipped fresh dill
* 1 pound beef ribeye steak
* 1 small onion, cut into 1/2-inch slices
* 1/2 teaspoon bottled minced garlic
* 1 tablespoon cooking oil
* 4 teaspoons all-purpose flour
* 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
* 1 14-ounce can beef broth
* 3 tablespoons tomato paste
* 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Directions

1. Cook noodles according to package directions, adding broccoli the last 5 minutes of cooking. Drain; return noodles and broccoli to pan.

2. Meanwhile, stir together the sour cream, horseradish, and dill in a small serving bowl; cover and chill until serving time.

3. Trim fat from beef. Cut beef into bite-size strips. Cook half of the beef, all of the onion, and garlic in hot oil in a large skillet until onion is tender and beef is of desired doneness. Remove from skillet. Add remaining beef; cook and stir until beef is of desired doneness. Return all meat to skillet; sprinkle flour and black pepper over meat. Stir to coat.

4. Stir in broth, tomato paste, and Worcestershire sauce. Cook and stir until mixture is thickened and bubbly. Cook and stir 1 minute more. Divide noodle-broccoli mixture among four bowls. Spoon beef mixture on top of noodle mixture. Top with one or two spoonfuls or two of the sour cream mixture. Makes 4 servings.

{New TV Stand}

Over the weekend while Jon was out of town I bought a new TV Stand. this unit is from IKEA. The only thing that we need to do still is figure out a way to hide the cords. I also bought Jon a new game for Wii for when he got home on Sunday. Here are some photos of the TV Unit and Jon playing his new game:

{Alfajores de Dulce de Leche}

I thought these cookies would be a good idea for holiday cookie exchanges or even gifts:

Alfajores de Dulce de Leche

Ingredients
Makes 3 1/2 dozen

* FOR THE COOKIE
* 4 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for work surface
* 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons confectioners' sugar
* 1 1/2 cups (3 sticks) chilled unsalted butter, cut into pieces
* 1/2 cup water
* Sanding sugar, for sprinkling
* FOR DULCE DE LECHE
* 2 (14-ounce) cans sweetened condensed milk

Directions

1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a nonstick baking mat (such as Silpat).

2. In a large bowl, sift together flour and confectioners' sugar. In a food processor, pulse together flour, sugar, and butter until the mixture resembles coarse meal, about 20 seconds. With machine running, pour in the water in a slow stream, and process just until the dough comes together, about 20 seconds. Form the dough into two flattened disks and wrap well in plastic. Refrigerate for 1 hour.

3. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. On a well-floured work surface, roll out one disk of dough to a scant 1/2-inch thickness. Using a 1 1/4-inch round cookie cutter, cut out rounds from the dough and transfer to the prepared baking sheet. Repeat with the other disk of dough. Gather up scraps from both batches, and reroll and cut. Sprinkle half the rounds with sanding sugar. Bake until golden brown, about 15 minutes, rotating sheets halfway through. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

4. About 30 minutes before serving, spread 1 teaspoon of the cold dulce de leche on the bottom of the unsugared cookies. Place the sugared cookies on top to make sandwiches. Serve immediately. Unfilled cookies can stored in an airtight container up to 3 days.

5. For Dulce de Leche: Empty milk into the top of a double boiler or a heatproof bowl over a pan of simmering water. Cover with a tight-fitting lid. Cook, stirring every 10 to 15 minutes, until the milk is thick and amber in color, about 5 hours. Remove from heat, and beat with a wooden spoon to smooth out. Transfer to a clean bowl, and refrigerate several hours or up to 3 days. Makes 1 3/4 cups.

{Beer Can Chicken}

On Saturday Jon and I decided to make Beer Can Chicken on the grill since it was so nice out. Here is what the chicken looked like when we were done. THe boys were trying to get on the counter to get some. Well actually Shooter got a chicken bone and swallowed it. So we are keeping an eye on him just to make sure he is ok. Those silly boys of mine!

Last Sunday (11-8-09) was our wedding anniversary. We froze our wedding cake and it was time to take it our and try it. It was ok. the cake tasted like lemons. Here is some photos of the cake:

{Tonight's Dinner}

Penne Pasta Skillet:

Prep Time: 5 min Total Time: 35 min Makes: 4 servings, 1-1/2 cups each

What You Need:
1 lb. ground beef
1 jar (26 oz.) spaghetti sauce
2 cups water
3 cups penne pasta or other small shaped pasta, uncooked
1 cup KRAFT Shredded Low-Moisture Part-Skim Mozzarella Cheese

Make It:
BROWN meat in large skillet on medium-high heat; drain.

ADD spaghetti sauce and water; mix well. Stir in pasta. Bring to boil. Reduce heat to medium; cover. Simmer 16 to 18 min. or until pasta is tender; stir.

TOP with mozzarella; cover. Cook 1 min. or until cheese is melted.

{Quick Sausage Crescents}

Last week at work we had a baby shower for one of the girls. I had made this simple and quick recipe. It was delicious. Here is the recipe below:

Quick Sausage Crescents:

Prep Time: 5 min Total Time: 20 min
Makes: 8 servings

What You Need:
1 can (8 oz.) reduced fat refrigerated crescent dinner rolls
8 frozen BOCA Meatless Breakfast Links

Make It:
SEPARATE dough into 8 triangles. Place 1 breakfast link at short end of each triangle; roll up.

PLACE on ungreased baking sheet.

BAKE at 375°F for 15 minutes. Serve with honey or maple syrup.

{Buttermilk Baked Chicken}

Buttermilk Baked Chicken

Ingredients:

Serves 4
Vegetable oil, for baking sheet
8 slices white bread
1 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon hot-pepper sauce
Salt and pepper
3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (2 1/2 ounces)
1 teaspoon dried thyme
4 pounds chicken parts (preferably legs, thighs, and wings), rinsed and patted dry

Directions:

1.Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Generously rub a baking sheet with oil. In a food processor, pulse bread until it turns into coarse crumbs.
2.In a large bowl, stir together buttermilk, hot-pepper sauce, 3/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon pepper. In a separate bowl, mix breadcrumbs, Parmesan, thyme, and 1/8 teaspoon pepper.
3.Place the chicken in the buttermilk mixture, turning to coat evenly. Working with one piece at a time, remove chicken from liquid, letting excess drip back into bowl; dredge in the breadcrumb mixture, turning to coat evenly. Place coated chicken pieces on prepared baking sheet.
4.Bake until chicken is golden brown, about 35 minutes.
